Visit to Leprosy home

Department of Botany in collaboration with department of Physics organised a visit to leprosy home to sensitize the students with problems of underprivileged persons with the permission of Dr. (Mrs.) Madhu Parashar, Principal, DSCW, Ferozepur. Teachers and students purchased biscuits, fruits, dal, rice, atta and distributed these eatables among the under privilege persons.
A visit to Mother Teresa home

With the kind permission of Principal Dr. (Mrs.) Madhu Prashar, department of Botany organised visit to Mother Teresa home for which bus was provided by the college. The staff members along with the students of B.Sc. Medical distributed wheat, flour, sugar, rice, pulses, refined oil, fruits and dry milk to the inmates of Mother Teresa home. The students also interacted with the inmates and come to know about the problem and tried their best to redress their grievance.
Visit to Blind home

Department of Botany in collaboration with other science departments organised a visit to blind home to sensitize the students with the problems of underprivileged persons. With the permission of Dr. (Mrs.) Madhu Prashar, Principal Dev Samaj College for Women, Ferozepur City, teachers and students of B.Sc. Medical visited to blind home. Teachers and students purchased biscuits, wheat flour, soap, oil, fruits, dal and distributed the eatables among the underprivileged persons. Students were feeling sad after listening the problems of these persons.
Workshop on Mushroom Cultivation

Department of Botany organised two days workshop on Mushroom cultivation. For this purpose, spawn was collected from Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana on 20th December, 2015. Wheat husk was watered on floor to make it soft so that fungal hyphae can penetrate it easily which take cellulose from the cell walls. On the next day, wet wheat straw with the specific moisture is filled in polythene bag in the form of compact layer of alternating with the layers of spawn to which the paraffin oil is added so that they can form mycelium on the surface. Three or four layer of spawn are sufficient in one polythene bag which is tightly closed with rubber band and is placed in a dark place after perforating from the sides randomly and cutting lower edges of polythene bag for drainage of excess of water if any. After about 15 days, mycelium penetrated throughout the polythene bag. Now polythene bag is cut from all the sides and is removed. Within the next 10 to 15 days fruiting body of dhingri appeared which is highly nutritious for health.

Department of Botany in collaboration of Department of Zoology celebrated Maat Pitaah Diwas on February 15, 2016 in Botany Lab-I. All the staff members of Botany and Zoology department and students of B.Sc. Medical were present in this event. The students expressed their gratitude towards their parents during the event. At the end, the teachers advised the students that they must respected their parents for their contribution in your life.
Educational visit to Science City, Kapurthala

With the kind permission of Dr. (Mrs.) Madhu Prashar Principal, Dev Samaj College for Women, Fzr. department of Botany organized a visit to ‘Science City’ Kapurthala. The student of Bsc 4th semester Medical observed keenly many instruments and models. They tried to understand various specific phenomena from the instruments and working models with the help of instrumentation displayed there. The teachers and instructors also elaborating the underlying principles and working of various models by asking them theory related questions. The students are selected in number of flora of wild plant for the preparation of herbarium file. The students learn a lot as well as they enjoy during the educational tour.
