Visit to Blind Home

With the kind permission of the Principal, Dr. (Mrs.) Madhu Prashar, Department of Botany organized a visit to blind home on the auspicious occasion of Rakhi. The staff members along with the student of B.Sc. (II, III) donated wheat flour, sweets, sugar, rice and fruits to the inmates of the Blind home institution. The students of the college also tied rakhi to the inmates and wished for their happiness and prosperity. The students also interacted with the inmates and came to know about the problems and tried their best to redress their grievances.
Visit to Leprosy Home

A visit was organized to the leprosy home which is situated in Ferozepur Cantt. The clothes and woolen articles were collected from the students and teachers, for donating them to the inmates of the leprosy home. Along with this some eatables like wheat flour, sugar, vegetable soil, etc.
Workshop on Mushroom Cultivation

A demonstration was given to students on how to grow mushrooms using wheat straw and polythene bags. Along with this, the lecture was given on the ideal conditions for growing mushrooms like moisture and temperature. The fruiting bodies of Mushrooms developed after about two months. The students were educated about the different parts of a mushroom and the various uses.
Exhibition of Medicinal Plants

Department of Botany, organized an exhibition of Medicinal plants on 29th September, 2016. The aim of this event was to introduce the various medicinal plants and specific plant's part exhibiting the medicinal properties. The various uses of these plants in different elements were categorized according to the part of the plant used viz. leaves, roots, stems, flowers and fruits. The student of B.Sc. (III) Medical and M.Sc. (I) Botany, participated in the exhibition with great interest and enthusiasm.
Exhibition of Medicinal Plants for Skin Diseases

An exhibition was organized on medicinal plants for the treatment of skin diseases. The students of B.Sc. (Medical) and B. Voc. (Hospital and Management) participated in this exhibition along with the M.Sc. (Botany). The aim of this exhibition was to give the information of various plants used to treat various skin diseases and disorders.
Quiz Competition on Life and Teachings of Bhagwan Dev Atma

Dr (Mrs.) Madhu Prashar, Principal DSCW, Ferozepur City encouraged the staff members to organize a quiz competition on life and teachings of ‘Dev Dharma’ on the auspicious occasion of birthday of Bhagwan Dev Atma, founder of Dev Samaj. The competition was organized by Botany department in collaboration with department of Mathematics. The students of graduation and post graduation courses participated in this event. Three teams were created with each team comprising of three students. Along with this, the faculty members casted a light on the biography and teachings of Bhagwan Dev Atma. At the end of the event, prizes were distributed to the participants of winning team.
Educational cum Plant Excursion Trip to Hari ke Pattan

An educational cum plant excursion trip was organized for the students of B.Sc. Medical and M.Sc. Botany to Harike Pattan for plant samples collection. A total of 35 students visited the site and collected the habitat, taxonomic information and prepared the herbarium of samples.
Plant Excursion Trip to Bazidpur Sahib and adjoining areas

One day plant collection trip was organised on 21st February, 2017, near Bazidpur Sahib and adjoining areas. The students collected the different type of local Flora especially weeds. These plants were identified and labelled. The motive of the this trip was to introduced Local flora to the students and also to prepare a herbarium file by drying the specimens of the plants and attaching them on the herbarium sheets.
Tree Plantation

Tree plantation was done in the college campus in collaboration with the department of Mathematics. Our worthy Principal, Dr (Mrs.) Madhu Prashar, planted a tree and also adopted it for care in the future. The faculty members of both the departments also adopted the trees individually. The motive of this tree plantation was to take the initiative towards protecting the environment as a plants helps to keep the air CLEAN and the environment GREEN.
National Seminar on “Global Environment Issues"

With confirmation of principal DSCW, Dr Madhu Prashar, one day National Seminar was organised by the Department of Botany on Global Environmental Issues on 28th March 2017. There were three keynote speakers, who gave the students aspirational and motivational talk on various environmental issues. Dr Ashwani Kumar, Dean, the school of Biosciences, Shriram group of colleges Muzaffarnagar, Uttar Pradesh, delivered the talk on the topic "solid waste management". Dr Yogendra Singh, Head, Applied Science of Humanities Government Polytechnic College Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, gave presentation on the topic "use of Nanotechnology by using silver particles" and Dr Harpreet Kaur, Assistant Professor. Guru Nanak College for Girls, Muktsar Sahib, gave the ideas on the topic "Site of Biodiversity".
