ICE-BREAKING SESSION

Fresher’s Party was arranged on August 10, 2018 by the students of M. Sc. (II) Botany to welcome the new students to the department. Students performed a variety of activities to add fun and frolic to the event. At the end Miss Fresher, Miss Confidence and Miss Charming were selected.

International Youth Day on the theme “Safe Spaces for Youth” was celebrated in the department. 61 Students from both the under graduate as well as post graduate classes participated in various activities like Speech, Quiz, Rangoli, Poster making, Poem Recitation etc. Winners of various events were awarded prizes to boost their morale and confidence.
STUDENT ENRICHMENT PROGRAM

Student Enrichment Program in collaboration with Post Graduate Department of English was organized on August 23, 2018 . An exhibition of medicinally important plants was organized for the visitors. Teachers and students from other departments of the college also visited the exhibition. Various queries regarding the use and method to use plants for medicinal purposes were satisfactorily answered by the students.

Workshop on Laboratory Instruments was organized as a part of Inter disciplinary activity in collaboration with P.G. Department of English, DSCW, on August 23, 2018.

A visit to Blind Home was organized in collaboration with Departments of Physics and Chemistry as a part of Rakhi Celebrations on August 24, 2018. Students accompanied by their teachers interacted with the inmates. Students also tied Rakhi on the inmates. Some material like wheat flour, rice, pulses, detergent etc of daily needs was also donated to the blind home.

Library Orientation Program for Students of M.Sc. Botany (Ist semester) was organized on August 29, 2018. Rules and regulations of the library were explained to them by the chief librarian Mr Anoop Singh. Students also learnt to access the books and journals.
TEACHER'S DAY CELEBRATION

Teacher’s Day was celebrated on September 5, 2018 in the department. Students of under graduate and Post graduate classes performed various activities to entertain their teachers. They also expressed their gratitude towards their teachers.
SHRAM DAAN CAMP

Hard work is the key to success. To instill the values regarding hard work, Deptt. of Botany organized “Shram Daan” Activity in collaboration with deptt. of Agriculture on September 15, 2018. Students cleaned the Botanical garden as a part of this activity.
VISIT TO BOOK EXHIBITION

Visit to Book Exhibition organized by Saptarishi Publishers was made on September 24, 2018.

Quiz competition was organized for students of M.Sc. Botany on October 1, 2018. There were two teams A&B. Team B comprising students of M.Sc. I declared as winner team. Winners were given away prizes to encourage them.
BOTANICAL EXCURSION TRIP TO MUSSOORIE & RISHIKESH

Botanical Excursions are an integral part of Botany curriculum. A botanical excursion was organized to Mussoorie and Rishikesh from October 7-13, 2018. Students of M.Sc.I& II enjoyed it along with their teachers. They visited various localities for plant collection.
ONE DAY SEMINAR ON "FOOD PROCESSING & PRESERVATION"

Seminar was organized on “Food Processing and Preservation” on October 8, 2018 I collaboration with deptt. of Agriculture. During the event Dr J.P. Singh delivered a lecture to throw light on food processing and preservation.
VISIT TO KRISHI VIGYAN KENDRA

Students of B. Sc. Final visited Kisan Mela -2018 held at Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Ferozepur on October 15, 2018. They visited various stalls and interacted with experts from different fields.

A Religious visit to Gurudwara Jamni Sahib, Bazidpur was organized in collaboration with deptt of Agriculture on October 15, 2018 for the students of B.Sc. III Medical.
VISIT TO MUSHROOM PRODUCTION UNIT, KVK, FEROZEPUR

Students of B.Sc. final visited Mushroom Production Unit, KVK, Ferozepur on October 15, 2018. They learnt the mushroom growing technology and its role in upliftment of society.
EXHIBITION ON ECONOMICALLY IMPORTANT PLANTS

An exhibition on Economically Important Plants was organized in collaboration with NSS Unit of DSCW, Ferozepur on October 16, 2018.
DEMONSTRATION OF CLIMATOLOGICAL INSTRUMENTS

Demonstration of Climatological Instruments was organized on November 15, 2018 for the students of B.Sc. final. Miss Asima Maini, Asstt. Prof. Agriculture gave a beautiful demonstration of various climatological instruments. Students were also told mode of use and applications of various instruments.
WORKSHOP ON FOOD LABELLING & QUALITY ASSURANCE

Workshop on Food Labelling and Quality Assurance was organized by the botany department on November 24,2108. Dr Jatinder Pal Singh explained food safety issues and quality assurance. Various queries were also answered by him. Event ended with a fruitful discussion.
(26-27-DECEMBER-2018)
A demonstration was given to students on how to grow mushrooms using wheat straw and polythene bags. Along with this the lecture was given on the ideal conditions for growing mushrooms like that of moisture and temperature. The fruiting bodies of Mushrooms developed after about two months. The students were educated about the different parts of a mushroom and the various uses of them.

Department of Botany organized AIDS awareness program. Students prepared charts and models depicting causes and control measures. Teachers and students from the other departments visited the event.
TREE PLANTATION
(14-December-2018)
Tree plantation was done in the college campus in collaboration with the Science department. Our worthy Principal, Dr (Mrs.) Madhu Prashar, planted a tree and also adopted the tree individually. The motive of this tree plantation was to take the initiative towards protecting the environment as trees contribute to their environment by providing oxygen, improving air quality, climate amelioration, conserving water, preserving soil and supporting wild life.
MAAT- PITA SANTAAN DIWAS

Department of Botany organized Maat-Pita Santaan diwas to inculcate the moral values and gratitude among the students. On this occasion, Students of M.Sc. Botany and B.Sc.II (Medical) participated in various events like charts, poems, songs, speech etc. to show love for their parents. In the end, Students were encouraged to do their best to make their parents happy.
